Welcome to our humble Home away from Home.

About

Valcour Cottages are located on the shores of Lake Champlain across from Valcour Island in Plattsburgh, NY.  We are a humble and affordable option for people passing through the area to enjoy a stay in one of our four quaint cottages or our larger, two bedroom front house.  If you are looking for luxury suites, it may be best to book elsewhere.  But if you are looking for modest and affordable accommodations at a convenient location, our rentals may be just what you're looking for!  We are located within walking distance of Peru Dock state boat launch to access Lake Champlain, and we are only one hour from Burlington, VT, Montreal, QC, and Lake Placid, NY.  Located at the top of the Adirondack Park, there are countless activities to do in our area including hiking, kayaking, swimming, camping, fishing, boating, and many other outdoor adventures.  We have a large, shared back yard with multiple fire pits (must provide own wood), propane/charcoal grills, stair access to the rock shoreline, parking for vehicles and even smaller boats (with management notice), picnic tables, chairs, and a beautiful view of the island and marina.  Come stay with us and enjoy all that Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks have to offer!

Location

We are located at 3990 U.S. 9 in Plattsburgh, NY on the Snug Harbor marina which is only 5 minutes off of the I-87 Interstate. Our rentals are located less than 15 minutes from golf courses, beaches, boat launches, kayak adventures, boat rentals, rafting at Ausable Chasm, restaurants, breweries, and hiking trails.

Valcour Island

Valcour Island is the island located east from our back yard looking out onto the lake, and has several sand beaches and miles of walking trails accessible by boat or canoe.  Bluff Point Lighthouse, built in 1874, can be seen from our backyard and is a focal point on the island.  There is much history in our area with multiple wars occurring during the American Revolution and the War of 1812.  The Battle of Valcour occurred right out in the waters between the island and our mainland, and the Battle of Plattsburgh took place in our area as well.  Divers have recovered many artifacts from the war, including weapons, cannonballs, and shipwrecks from the bottom of the lake.  The waters are also home to our infamous lake monster, Champy.  Many Plattsburgh natives have claimed to see the long, prehistoric beast in our lake, but no one has yet to catch him.  But there is no need to fear - he is friendly!
